Mac HD Icon gone from desktop?

Subject: Mac HD Icon gone from desktop? May 29th 2008, 9:44 pm

This isnt happening to me right now but I was just wondering how do you get the mac HD icon back onto the desktop if you remove it? This happened once on one of my schools iMacs and I couldnt get it back anyway, show HD icon on desktop didnt work either.

first go to finder click on macintosh HD and drag it to desktop?

I'd imagine you're on a network of iMac's that aren't customizable due to the school's attitude. You're probably blocked to access preferences and such.
