Remove icon labels from desktop icons

Ok, so i'm on Vista and like the subject says i want to remove icon labels from all of my desktop icons.

Is there a registry hack to make them transparent or something? I've tried avedesk but i find it slow starting up and it freezes frequently...

Any help appreciated smile

You can change all of the name of the icon to some blank character.

I've tried space bar but it just reverts to the original name. Are there other blank characters?

usually yes, try using character map to find one
