Question About Contests

Is there some kinda recognition for entering, or well, for winning these wallpaper, desktop contests??
Maybe we could have a section at the bottom, that displays the winner of the contest for the month??
And maybe send a mass PM to remind everyone that the contest has began, and remind them to Vote!!

What do you all think about this??

well im kind of neutral, but ur recognition is becoming a MOD for the month. something i will never get again b/c i've banned myself from the contests so i can reach the 2000 Post ran. or did u take it off ALXZ?

I saw it on another forum where they have little like, banners of badges underneath the username for supporters and moderators and stuff, and thought it would be good for this tongue

a mod for the month? - and then what? i don't get the point of that, excuse me...
minimal power trip for a month hardly seems like the type of reward one should receive for their creativity :undecided:

about the banners and badges, i was actually gonan make some of those yesterday, then i realized that tht stuff like "Moderator" "Administrator" "Regular member" etc, is in words and not buttons.. so.. eh... I threw that idea out the window... But if it's something that they can implement, i'd be glad to make some buttons as well.

Not a mod for a month.
I'll tell you why: If we get a member that becomes a mod, they have the ability to delete posts, ban members etc. This could be a potential disaster, if someone decides to mess with us.

@randomus_r, thats impossible. The only way for them to get a badge would be to implement it WITH the rank so it can be right under the rank though.

I'm proposing a custom rank, with custom colored stars and a contest winner badge under the stars for one month

Mass Email for voting is also a great idea

actually, u know, if the user was willing to make their own ranking thing, you could very well just make them a group and add a badge for each time they win. might be a bit cumbersome but i wouldnt mind. desktop contest could have one, former staff, wallpaper contest, subscriber (donator actually) ect... might be kinda cool ^_^

This month its been kind of layed back since I forgot to announce the winners lol :/

^^word... i was like looking at the May contest, and I saw no post or anything about who won.. which led me to be thinking like well what's the point of the contest, which led me to bring up this topic.

I like the stuff you propose too... especially a new thread, which will be like congratulating the winner... My best suggestion, and incentive for more entries and motivation for more creativity, is to have a preview of the work of the winner on the bottom of the front page, just a small preview linking to the actual work.
But i dunno, I feel like you don't want to put anything on the front page, i dunno if you feel like it's gonna look bad or something... I think also it would be attraction way to create something attractive for people who are not members yet, since they would see it when they visit the forum and it might be something they are interested in, and would create another reason why they should join.
