Why does the edit button disappear after a while? I've updated an icon, but I can't edit the OP

I've shortened the length of how long you can edit your posts because of various problems in the past, I hope it's not too much of a problem

indeed but it will keep nasty users from going back and editing a post to cover up their tracks

well theres a time period in which you CAN still edit your post. its something around the likes of 5 minutes
