all the sudden Time Machine and Finder dont want 2 find my 320 GB external HD, but i see it in disc utility and sumhow it's now 2TB, any1 got any ideas on how 2 fix it b/c disk utility keeps saying error

well, at least now u have two terabytes of memory :biggrin: hmmm try restoring a bit back... go into recovery mode and see if it is like that there...

doesnt turn on? did u try the recovery mode?

well it turns on if disk utility recognizes it, but thats it...im not allowed 2 read/write on it, reformat, partition...nothing. says its unreadable and needs 2 b initialized, which it wont let me

USB plugin right? Can't you try sometin like plugging it into a different port?

can you connect the drive to another computer and try like formatting it? windows comp maybe?

ya its the same USB that a RAZR or PSP uses. also since im no that good w/ Windows XP...what program would i use 2 reformat?

download G-Parted burn that to a CD then boot onto that and use that to reformat
|

problem is, its my moms computer so she doesnt let me D/l things 2 it since i gave it a virus once

ahhhhhh... i see... ouch... ok.. do this, get g-parted and do it quick, its small then boot into it from ur laptop.

yeah, its a linux distro with only the Gnome Partition Manager on it so boot into that, i think u keep hitting f8 while the laptop is booting to boot from CD. Then go in grab what u need if u can. right click and hit file browser to browse files. the reformat. u have to unmount the drive first though so right click it and hit unmount and then go and reformat it
