MacTouch mock ups.
-By Alex Marcondes
Not even one week goes by after this years MacWorld and already, people are creating rumors and mockups for NEXT years MacWorld! This beauty is called the MacTouch.

The keyboard shown in this mock up is just an on screen keyboard. Although it might seem impractical, (given that Apples on screen keyboard creation skills were lacking with the iPhone, the keyboard being one of the most common complaints) the author of the mock up says that a special iLife application would be added to allow for handwritten-to-text. Hopefully that would make up for any lost usability from not having a keyboard. Obviously bluetooth would be implemented allowing for a blue tooth keyboard but, the next mock, might make that unessicary. Acording to the creator of the MacTouch mock up, there is also a minimalistic dock station in the works which includes a wireless USB keyboard, which would essentially be a large multi touch trackpad, and then also some sort of CD/DVD burner/reader and two USB ports on the keyboard and two additional firewire ports.

Its always amazing to see what people can come up with and this next thing was is my favourite of all of these mock ups.

The thing is, that mock up is actually patented by Apple! The official Apple Future Ad

But of course Apple doesn't have enough money to hire someone who doesn't draw like the guy who made Dr. Katz on Comedy Central a few years ago. Anyway, heres a transcript of the Abstract
- Integrated Monitor and Docking Station Patent Abstract wrote:
- A docking station is disclosed. The Docking station includes a display and a housing configured to hold the display in a manner that exposes a viewing serface of the display to receive a portable computer. The docking area is at least partly obscured by the display when viewed from the viewing surface side of the display at an angle substatially orthogonal to the viewing surface."
Now, Apple hasn't confirmed that this is actually going to happen so don't wet your self. With the MacBook Air not reciving too many good reviews because of price and what you get in the end, Apple might run in to some problems getting them shipped. That means that the MacBook Air will be around longer, and its life span, more tedious.
exUBERance OUT!
