Leopard VM

I managed to get Leopard in VMware, thanks to pcwiz's patched'ness. Its quite big, 8 GB in total, so its not overly massive...

defaults are set to 1GB DRAM, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Solo, but you can obviously increase RAM and allocate more in VMware to increase its preformance. So far, USBs don't work on it sad

and sound is a little choppy, but upgrading RAM should sort that, and a little tweak is needed to fix the ethernet problem, oh and no wireless...

apart from that, it functions just right, it is perfect for testing stuff on. Im new to os x and I do want a mac, so I may play around with this tongue

get myself used to it before spending alot of dosh tongue

lol, you might want to try actualy installing it. Most of the drivers get pretty beaten up through a VM and eventually fail :/

installing it? You can't install Leopard, you can run a dual boot using the edited kernel editions (hackintosh), but to be frank, I can't be asked, and I don't want the hassel of partitioning. So I think for the time being, this way is quite good. Its free and quick tongue

A dual boot is actually very simple if you have all the right specs. What you usually do it, format a disk to FAT32, make it Mac OS Extended Journaled in the installer... install... then if XP doesn't boot up you insert your XP disk and run a simple command. tongue

I wish I had the time and patience to do it, but Im really skeptical about the legal issues, call me a softie but I don't wanna risk it wink

yeah, I was thinking of dual booting, but I'm a bit of a whimp when it comes to legal rights sad

Also, running leopard on your PC is not illegal :O. Of course, if you don't have a real disk and download one, thats the only illegal part

actually, it completely violates Apples User License Agreement. Its againts the copyright to run OS X on anything but an Apple computer wink

well, still installing leopard on a f*cking pc is not that easy... i tried it like 4 times one day, quited... and tried again 3 times in a row.. with no success..

i'm waiting for the new Leo4All LIVE DVD w00t, and try again to install the stupid OS...

well to be honest i haven't found any usefull help in osx86 forums... they might think that everyone is a g33k that knows every single Bios option combination for MACOS to work properly...

I installed it pretty easily on my comp, just needed ethernet drivers and fix a USB mouting issue, 2 simple zip files. But it REALLY depends on your hardware, for example on my laptop I wasn't able to get far - no internet, sound, overheating issues.

But like I said, on some computers it will work "out of the box" if you choose the right drivers during install in the options

on my mothers laptop, which is an Intel Based ASUS.. i couldn't even boot leopard dvd...

my problem seems to be graphic drivers... at least that's what appears in the support forums... but after doing "the fix" it didn't worked either...

1 SATA DVDRW
ASUS Gforce 6600 Gpu
4x512 MB DDR Kingston (don't know it would cause a problem or not.)

Non-SSE3 processor and perhaps the motherboard are whats causing your problems
RAM could not cause it, the same ram can be used in macs.
I believe there are certain leopard DVD's that are SSE3 only, so check that. And the fact that you're using an AMD processor means a lot, you need to select both AMD patches during install. Try using a Kalyway DVD, that sucessfuly installed for me on one of my AMD laptops
