Is it safe?

Is it safe to leave your iMac on stand by at night when your not on it ? And does it waste energy?

well it will def use power if its on, but as for is it safe...im pretty sure it is, i leave my macbook running all the time (day and night) without letting it sleep b/c im always downloading things and my computer runs fine.... remember we are not dealing with windows so there are a lot less worries, wen i did this same thing with a windows comp i think i got a virus AND lost all internet features, but again this is a mac so u'll b fine

anything that is on and plugged in will use power, a sleeping laptop on a charger...less power but still uses it...a fone on the charger at full charge...it will actually just run off the cord not the battery (same with the laptop actually), but if u r worried about wasting electric b/c of te electric bill at the end of the month then jus turn it off
