Thats cuz they are not putting the new components when you send it in to get it fixed, I got mine when it came out and it broke around August last year but I had purchased warranty from Best Buy so all I had to do was return it and they gave me a full refund including tax.
It sucks I know but dont call 360 garbage, its easily the best console out right now, Wii is for kids and PS3 has a weak library of games.

I have mine on top of one of my speakers, you also have to give the power brick a little of bit space, cuz that even has vents, Microsoft's console has its designs flaws but we gotta deal with it.
All 360 consoles released fall of last year shouldn't have any of those overheating problems since they updated some parts, they just have to put these new parts for the consoles sent to the repair center.
A buddy of mine is on his 4th 360 xDD

The middle one (60gb) was $350 so yes on the price drop.
Should we turn this into a 360 thread? xDD

Mine just got the red rings a few weeks ago I've been using the towel trick everytime it happens, but it seems like it's slowed down a LOT since it started
But I need to return it soon for a new one, I just don't wanna wait

I don't recommend the towel trick because it can really overheat it and warp the board, and in some cases microsoft will refuse to replace your console. I bought my 360 with a red ring for 25 bucks, sent it in and has been working ever since, that was over a year ago. And btw, nowadays when you send in your box they tend to be replacing the insides with the new motherboards and dvd drives. Then they aren't supposed to be getting RROD really ever again.
