Here's the Video of the Speech:

I watched it last night... Barack Obama is pretty much the only choice I see for this election. He's such a great speaker - to think that we might actually have a very intelligent, intellectual, confident & charismatic president like that is awesome. He really displayed a lot of character, he was extremely confident and he spoke the way people need to hear a president speak, especially now with all that's going on.

It was a historic event for more than one reasons: This is the first time in history that a person who is considered to be black (even though he's actually half black half white), is nominated for the office of President of the USA. And it's also historic because it was held on the day of the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King's "I have a Dream" speech. (BTW you spelled speech incorrectly in the topic. tongue). That historic event was held at a time when the country was in great turmoil and people lost hope and wanted to see a change, some of the issues were different at the time, and America has come a long way since then. To me it was very fitting to have the Democratic Convention this week and have the speech on that day.

The crowd response was amazing, even Republicans say damn that was a great speech, and he really hit the nail on the head with that one. I've never heard people our age and even younger even interested in politics or who was gonna be president. Now I see 10 & 11 year olds watching the news, watching the presidential conventions, interested in what's going on in our country. This guy, Barack Obama has an effect on people, he makes people care, and makes people feel like there is hope for change.

I first saw Barack Obama giving a speech like 3 years, I was like 11 or 12. I didn't even know him, I was like who is this guy? I was just flipping through channels, but I listened to him. From out of nowhere he captivated me, I had no choice but to watch. Although what he was talking about had nothing to do with me, it moved me, and I felt like I believed in what he said.

And even though I'm sure that everything that he promises if he is elected President, will not happen overnight, and even if everything doesn't get changed, at least we know we have a better chance for it than we would with John Mccain.

Not once have I ever seen people respond to John McCain, like they do to Barack Obama when he speaks. The American people have more in common with what Barack Obama's intentions are than what John McCain's intentions are. he's definitely the better choice for a President right now, and he selected a very good man, Joe Biden, for his Vice President.

OK I'll wrap it up now, I feel like I'm campaigning or something LOLz... but trust me if I could vote, I'd vote for Barack Obama. thumbs up

Wow i just finished watching and i compared his speech to Mcain's and it wasn't just the way he was speaking but what he was talking about is tired and recycled and hardly got the crowd excited whilst Obama got me excited about issues that wouldn't even affect me which is the sign of the best candidate for President.

@Chekkz Thanks for the vid happy

America have 2 choices. Him or McCain. A Vietnam war veteran who has the same point of view as George W. Look at him. In power for 8 years. Didn't even take him one to fudge up the country. The sad thing is that people probably won't vote for Obama as he is black, I heard a quote earlier today that he is a "closet racist". I really could go on and on and go off topic and on, but I can see Obama becoming president, and after that, I can see a lot more...

lol im a conservative and im sure not saying it was a great speech. i dont see how what he is saying is so different from the usually liberal bull. just because hes black doesnt mean hes some new kind of candidate. hes THE most liberal senator. hes THIS close to being a socialist. everyone is all wrapped up in this obama trendy love fest. no one seems to care about what he actually wants to DO.

and for the person comparing his speech to McCain's speech....McCain hasnt even given his speech yet....

gosco, i donno why youre so set on obama not getting elected because we are a buncha racists. thats a copout. despite what our rampant liberal media says, the united states is a pretty conservative country. we arent a bunch of racists, we just dont believe in his extreme liberal views.

i'm happy to see i'm not the only one who feels like this

here's something one of my friends said which i completely agree with:

I seriously think you should actually pay attention to the man's campaign and re-evaluate your support for him. You say Obama isn't a racist but he refers to white republicans as "bitter americans clinging to their guns and religion." Look at the people he associates himself with. Mahmoud Ahmedenijad who personally sponsored the 911 attacks, and Jeremiah Wright who preached his "god damn America" filth to Obama for over 20 years. You expect me to trust Obama is speaking the truth when he says that he wasn't aware of these Anti-American sentiments? Not to mention he changes his position and ideals at the drop of a coin. Not to mention that he advocates total governmental controlover all aspects of our lives (i.e. communism). Not to mention that he turned down EVERY major energy solution proposed by McCain, green or otherwise. Why don't you just hand him the constitution and a Zippo while you're at it? Honestly, put down the Obama Kool-aid, do some research, then make an informed decision about which candidate you support. Don't cheat yourself out of the right to make the intelligent vote our founding fathers died for.

You didn't hear that Obama disowned his preacher? He wasn't always like that by the way, it was just the campaign and the fact that Obama didn't agree with the preacher on some stuff so he got pissed. Frankly the "bitter Americans clinging to their guns and religion" isn't far from the truth. Now i am great friends with republicans (hell i live in the south tongue) and not all of them are like that, but from what i can tell, pretty much all of the major political figures that are republicans are closed minded when it comes to religion, and very quick to war. Don't get me wrong, some of the greatest strategical minds came out of the south and were republicans or the like but they were also quick to the conclusion of war and rarely open for negotiation.

Last night Obama seemed pretty sincere about what he said, and I agree with pretty much all that he said. A lot of the other speeches that some of the other people made were just bland. Also, I have to admit, I do like a president that makes me smile when I listen to him speak.

umm i dont know where youre getting your info from but its wrong. that preacher has been preaching that way for decades. obama only disowned him after the world found out about the craziness going on there. he didnt even disown him right away, when it first went public. he waited til his poll numbers went down. obama wrote a best selling book in which he praised that man, and quoted him over and over.

and the fact that you are condoning his "bitter Americans clinging to their guns and religion" comment just proves how elitist the liberal mindset is.

Sorry, but I wouldn't vote for someone who doesn't know how many houses he owns or what car he drivers. Also, picking Palin as his VP was obviously to help him win, most people have never even heard about her and he wants to win over Clinton supporters.

Let's try to keep this discussion calm so far, we're just expressing our views, which is totally OK as long as no one takes this to the extreme thumbs up

its laughable, the cnn/daily show talking points from you guys.

do any of you even bother to look any deeper than that? do you know why McCain didnt know how many homes they own? do you have any idea how rich obama is? every presidential candidate is rich. do you really want someone running our country who hasnt been successful in his own life? McCain is the only one who wants to cut everyones taxes. its obama who is raising them for everyone. you know why so many businesses move operations over seas? its because we tax them to death here, and obama wants to tax them even more. rich people arent evil. businesses arent evil. they are the ones who provide you with jobs and money in your 401K. maybe you are all too young to understand.

oh and btw, mccain is the one that prevented the huge taxing of the internet. your precious obama even wants to tax that.

Actually...I'm pretty sure McCain does NOT plan on cutting taxes on the middle class.
Why does it matter whether the candidates are rich??
Obama understands the middleclass, McCain doesn't. They're both rich. And I think you can figure out the rest (McCain doesn't get it!!!!!).

And why did you say Obama hasn't been successful in his own life??

stupidgirl, did u listen to his speech? he specifically said that he would move for cutting taxes so that the bizs that ARE shipping jobs overseas come back here to make jobs for americans! The point i was making about McCain is that McCain has ALWAYS been rich, Obama grew up in the middle class with a single mother going to school and no father (its actually the same as me except i have a sister too) and he KNOWS what the middle class is, in fact, lower middle class. he worked his ass off to get where he is today. Thats not to say that McCain didnt work his ass off, maybe he did, im not all that sure, if he did then congratz, u have just stumped an argument of mine, but McCain has always has the pleasure and lesiure of money, he doesnt understand what its like to want but not be able to have (except maybe the presidency) hes been able to pay for everything without thinking. Its just like saying Bill Gates would get what its like to be poor. know what im saying? Obama is the friend of the lower class, like me. Maybe your not lower class, idk, u dont have to reveal, but if you were in my situation maybe you would see in a different light.

actually stupidgirl, i did read the link that you posted. Glenn Beck imo is crazy. What he says is true on the taxes, not everybody pays taxes, but do you know who those people who dont pay taxes and end up with a heap of money are? Those 5%. Those 5% are also the politicians who give themselves raises and tax breaks. Obama doesn't want to pay taxes, no body does as far as i am concerned but really think about it. Those 5% would end up paying more taxes individually than 2% of the lower middle class citizens! 2% doesn't seem like a lot but when you consider that there is about 100 people in that 5% that make an outlandish amount of money, then you get 200% more taxes than before if the lower middle class were the only factor. Obviously there are other higher payed people and lower payed people so you would see a greater rise in taxes. So how about this, take the money thats just going to disappear when these people die and put it to paying off our countries debts.
